“I am the Good Shepherd; I know my own and my own know me”. John 10:14"
Using magic pens, Year 5 wrote invisible notes of appreciation to their classmates, later revealed under blue light!
Earlier, we imagined how we’d use superpowers to help others, then discovered that our real powers lie in our words and actions. Building on this, students shared how they’ve stood up for others and pledged to be kind in support of Anti-Bullying Week.
Realising that we’re all superheroes, we created a “Year 5 Superman Cape” filled with invisible messages of courage and kindness, revealed again under the blue light. It was fun, inspiring, and truly meaningful!
During Anti-Bullying Week, we took part in a special workshop. We learned what bullying is, why it is wrong, and how to stand up for ourselves and others in a safe way. We also talked about being kind, respecting each other, and who we can speak to if we need help.
We marked World Mental Health Day with a special assembly where we talked about the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing. Everyone wore colourful clothes to show support, and our Health and Wellbeing Parliament members shared thoughtful messages about why mental health matters. A meaningful day for all!
On our very first day in Year 5, we explored the 7 Catholic Social Teachings and worked together to create posters linking these values with our class rules. We also connected our work to the school mission statement: ‘Love one another as I have loved you’ (John 13:34).
To bring our ideas to life, we presented them through drama and actions. Year 5 did an amazing job, showing deep thinking, meaningful scenarios, and excellent listening skills. A wonderful start to the year!
