“I am the Good Shepherd; I know my own and my own know me”. John 10:14"
Today, we shared our adventure maps with the Reception children to help them navigate their Bee-Bots. We explained the themes behind our designs and the materials we used to create the maps. It was a great opportunity to talk about our creative choices and support the younger children in using the maps for their own learning.
Year 5 explored programming using Bee-Bots. We were given arrows as instructions and had to input them correctly so the Bee-Bot could follow and move forward, backward, left, or right. Step by step, the Bee-Bots began to trace out hidden letters — and Year 5 had to work out which ones!
For an extra challenge, Year 5 planned their own routes, programming the Bee-Bots to form letters and even spell out their names!
In DT, Year 5 are getting ready for our exciting new topic: Programming Adventures!
To prepare, we began in English by imagining and designing mysterious islands that Jack will explore. Each island is unique, filled with challenges and adventures. These islands will soon become the maps for our DT lessons, where we’ll programme robots to navigate across them.
By combining storytelling with technology, we’re setting the stage for a creative and adventurous term ahead!
