Homework Freeze The Snowboard
I hope you are all enjoying the weather and having snow much fun at home. Remember to stay warm and try not to feel too ice-olated.
Below you will find activities that you can bring into school and we will igloo them into your homework books next week. I also thawed it would be a good idea to remind you to learn your division times tables (7's, 8's, and 9's) until you snow them. I have also set work on Mathletics. Have a n-ice weekend!
NOTE: You do NOT need to be able to download these documents in order to do them, you can just write them out in a notebook or on a sheet of paper and bring it into school next week.
Welcome to St John Bosco Class!
YEAR 3 TRIP TO HOLLAND PARK ECOLOGY CENTRE
As you will be aware unfortunately we had to cancel the trip to Holland Park Ecology Centre on Tuesday due to bad weather. We are delighted to confirm that it has been re-booked for Wednesday 18th May. We will use the existing permission slips and payment that Year 3 parents have already sent in.
Prayer to St Joan
We pray that we may be as bold in our beliefs as you St Joan. We ask that you ride alongside us in our own battles and struggles each day. Amen.
On Friday the class took part in Collective Worship. We read the story of the Shepherds who went to visit baby Jesus. We placed pebbles around a candle whilst we said a silent prayer.
Year 3 Class Assembly on St Joan of Arc
This morning Year 3 carried out an amazing assembly on our class patron saint, St Joan of Arc. We have been learning about her and her holy life over the last few weeks so we shared our knowledge with our parents and the school.
We were lucky to have the use of a real suit of armour donated by one of our parents. St Joan came to life in front of our eyes!
Yesterday members of Year 3 participated in the Hammersmith and Fulham Skittleball tournament at Hammersmith Town Hall. This was the first competition outside of the school the children had attended and whilst not being crowned winners they played incredibly well and set an excellent example to the other school children with their behaviour and team work. Well done!
Year 3 Show & Tell
Today some children presented their half term homework to the class, which was research on an aspect of Ancient Roman life. There were some wonderful posters and we learnt lots of new facts.
Year 3 Trip to the Museum of London
Yesterday we went on our trip to visit the Museum of London. We saw lots of interesting Ancient Roman artefacts like strigils which were used by the Romans for scraping their dead skin off- eurgh! We also learnt about the life of a Roman slave through a drama workshop we attended.
Year 3 Roman Feast
On Friday Etain and Year 3 organised an amazing Roman Feast for their parents in the hall. They were dressed in costumes of Roman ladies, men, gladiators or slaves and cooked delicious food like 'door mice' (made from pastry!) and Roman bread.
Year 3 Stations of the Cross
Today Year 3 performed their play of the Stations of the Cross to the school and parents, telling us the important story of Jesus' Passion and Death. They sang three beautiful hymns and all the children acted in a thoughtful and prayerful way- well done!
On Friday Year 3 had their first yoga session with Alice from Yoga Medicine. The children had lots of fun and felt very relaxed and flexible afterwards!
Trip to National Gallery
As part of Year 3's Kite Studios time we went on a trip to the National Gallery to look at Rubens' painting 'A Roman Triumph' which we are studying as part of the National Gallery's Take One Picture competition. Miss Clark's mother Clare came with us and talked to us about the art history behind the painting and some other pictures in the collection.
